Job Summary

The Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional beverage service to members and guests by preparing and serving drinks in a professional, efficient, and friendly manner. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable club experience while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, accuracy, and member satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

Service & Member Experience

  • Provide prompt, courteous, and professional beverage service to all members and guests.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with club recipes and standards.
  • Greet members by name whenever possible, ensuring a personalized service experience.
  • Recommend specialty drinks, wines, or promotions to enhance member satisfaction.
  • Take food orders when applicable and communicate with kitchen staff efficiently.

Bar Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including counters, glassware, and equipment.
  • Ensure bar is fully stocked at all times — including liquors, wines, beers, mixers, garnishes, and glassware.
  • Follow proper cash handling and POS procedures for member charges and receipts.
  • Adhere to all alcohol service laws, including checking identification when appropriate.
  • Monitor alcohol consumption and report any concerns to management.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with servers, food runners, and management to ensure smooth service.
  • Attend pre-shift meetings and stay informed of daily specials, events, and club policies.
  • Support special events, banquets, and pool/beverage cart operations as assigned.
  • Communicate member feedback, complaints, or suggestions promptly to supervisors.

Cleanliness & Compliance

  • Maintain sanitation standards in compliance with club and state health regulations.
  • Perform opening and closing duties including bar setup, restocking, and cleaning.
  • Ensure all equipment is in proper working order and report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines at all times.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–2 years of bartending experience (private club or resort preferred).
  • Knowledge of mixology, wines, and spirits.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current alcohol service certification (TIPS or equivalent) preferred.
