Job Overview

Responsibilities 

• Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils thoroughly and efficiently.

• Scrape, rinse, and sort dirty dishes before washing, keeping the flow of items through the dish station organized.

• Operate the commercial dishwasher properly and notify kitchen management if equipment is not working correctly.

• Check all items for cleanliness before returning them to service, rewashing anything with food residue or grease.

• Keep clean dishes and cookware available during service, prioritizing items the kitchen and service staff need most.

• Put clean items away in their designated locations, keeping storage areas neat and handling dishware carefully to prevent breakage.

• Keep the dishwashing area clean and organized, maintaining separation between dirty and clean items.

• Clean and sanitize sinks, work surfaces, dish racks, and equipment throughout the shift and at closing.

• Sweep and mop assigned kitchen areas, addressing spills promptly and keeping walkways clear.

• Empty trash and recycling regularly, replace liners, and keep garbage areas clean.

• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handwashing and safe use of cleaning chemicals.

• Help put away kitchen deliveries and supplies as directed by kitchen management.

• Communicate and work closely with the kitchen team, assisting with assigned cleaning and kitchen support tasks as needed.

• Complete all assigned opening and closing duties, leaving the dish station and surrounding areas clean and ready for the next shift.

• Arrive on time and ready to work, maintaining dependable attendance and a professional attitude.

Skills 

• Previous dishwashing experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen.

• Ability to work efficiently and stay organized during busy service.

• Strong attention to cleanliness and safe handling of dishes, equipment, and supplies.

• Ability to follow instructions, communicate clearly, and work well with a team.
