The Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service to members and guests of The Pittsburgh Golf Club.
Primary Job Duties:

  • Inspect the bar before each shift to ensure adequate products, equipment, and supplies are available; obtain additional supplies as needed throughout the shift.
  • Maintain and regularly clean equipment, floors, surfaces, and coolers to ensure a hygienic, organized workspace.
  • Follow detailed set-up and break-down procedures to maintain an efficient bar, including requirements for banquet bars and private events.
  • Prepare garnishes, cocktails, and pre-mixed drinks accurately and consistently.
  • Warmly greet members and guests while delivering personable, exceptional service in accordance with The Pittsburgh Golf Club’s standards.
  • Offer recommendations, answer questions, and suggest menu items based on a thorough understanding of menu offerings, ingredients, dietary restrictions, and allergies.
  • Take and relay orders, special requests, modifications, and cooking instructions accurately and efficiently through the Club’s point-of-sale system.
  • Promptly report member or guest concerns, complaints, or suggestions to leadership.
  • Attend pre-shift meetings and arrive “Member Ready”: timely, prepared, hygienic, and ready to serve members and their guests.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations, including responsible alcohol-service practices.
  • Verify the accuracy of all checks, member names, member numbers, and charges; present checks professionally.
  • Complete all opening, on-shift, and closing side work, as well as other duties assigned by leadership.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally maneuver objects up to 164 pounds, including kegs.
  • Stand for extended periods; walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and perform continuous repetitive motions.
  • Be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, consistent with The Pittsburgh Golf Club’s operational needs.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of bar service and etiquette, mixology, wine, beer, liquor, and food service.
  • Obtain RAMP Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills and effective coordination in a dynamic work environment.
  • Maintain a friendly, cooperative demeanor with members, guests, and staff.
  • Remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work setting.
  • Previous bartending and point-of-sale experience is preferred.
