Bakery Assistant Description:

Team members must live our values daily through their work towards one another as well as towards our customers and community. In addition, they must follow all approved procedures for receiving, prepping, and storing food, baked goods, and ingredients in a clean environment. They must follow all inventory control procedures to maximize product freshness, quality, turnover, and availability for maximum sales. Opportunities for catering either for our pop-up shop or an outside event as they arise.
Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the vision and the Values of The Village Coffeehouse
  • Upholding the vision and values
  • Following and executing all recipes
  • Preparing menu items using approved production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • Carrying pans, pots and trays of food to and from workstation, oven, and refrigerator
  • Stores food in designated areas following standard wrapping, dating and rotation procedures.
  • Cleans, sanitizes and maintains counters, dishes, work surfaces, machinery, refrigeration units and floors in the preparation and serving areas.
  • Maintains clean, safe work environment to comply with sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Further responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Standing for long hours
  • Lifting 50 plus pounds
  • Ensuring that the kitchen is adequately stocked with quality ingredients and supplies
  • Aware of inventory
  • Inspecting food and bakery items to ensure that the established standards for quality, uniformity, and aesthetic appeal are met
  • Strategically arranging bakery items in display cases to encourage customer purchases
  • Ensuring that baking tools, utensils, and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized daily
  • Completing special or large orders accurately and on time
  • Discarding stale or spoiled bakery items
  • Prepping for a Pop-Up

Requirements:
● Constantly* reach at waist, grasp
● Frequently stand, walk, reach at shoulder, bend
● Occasionally sit, reach overhead, reach at knee, reach at floor, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, stair climb, pivot, twist, push / pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements, shoulder abduction
● Occasionally be exposed to wet, cold, hot conditions, loud noise
● Demonstrate the ability to lift 50 lbs, and manage in excess of 70 lbs**
● Able to multitask in a high paced environment.

Mondays through Saturdays
Typical Start Time:
· Monday – Saturday 4AM
Typical end time:
Monday-Saturday 9 AM (will vary with seasons)
Pay Frequency:
· Bi-weekly or twice monthly
Schedule:
● Monday to Saturday
● Weekends required
● Holidays required
● Morning Shift
