Job Title: Cook Department: Kitchen / Back of House
Reports To: General Manager / Shift Supervisor / Kitchen Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary: The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality meals according to restaurant standards and recipes. They must maintain a clean and organized work environment, follow food safety protocols, and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen. A successful Cook is detail-oriented, team-focused, and passionate about delivering great food.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards
  • Ensure all food is cooked and plated correctly, meeting presentation guidelines
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including food prep and storage areas
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper food handling and storage
  • Assist with receiving and storing kitchen supplies and ingredients
  • Communicate with kitchen staff and servers to ensure timely food preparation
  • Follow portion control guidelines to minimize waste and control food costs
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including prep work and cleaning
  • Adhere to all restaurant policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a cook in a restaurant or food service setting preferred
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment, food preparation techniques, and cooking methods
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
  • Understanding of food safety regulations (ServSafe certification is a plus)
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
