Job Overview

Duke’s Beach Grill is seeking an experienced, dependable, and outgoing front-of-house team member. This position begins as a hands-on Cashier/Food Runner, with the opportunity to advance into a Shift Leader role for the right candidate.
We are looking for someone who provides excellent guest service, works well under pressure, and is comfortable taking charge when needed. The ideal candidate has prior restaurant experience and can help keep the team organized and service running smoothly during busy shifts.
Responsibilities

  • Greet guests and accurately take food and beverage orders
  • Process cash and credit-card payments
  • Deliver food promptly and confirm order accuracy
  • Maintain a clean and organized dining room, patio, and service area
  • Restock beverages, condiments, utensils, and other supplies
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen, bar, and front-of-house employees
  • Resolve routine guest concerns professionally
  • Help direct workflow and maintain service standards during busy periods
  • Support and coach newer team members
  • Assist with opening, shift-change, and closing responsibilities
  • Follow all food-safety, sanitation, alcohol-service, and company procedures

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous restaurant or hospitality experience required
  • Cashier, food-running, serving, or shift-lead experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and accountable
  • Friendly and professional with guests
  • Able to remain calm and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds
  • California Food Handler Card required

Opportunity for Advancement
Candidates who demonstrate reliability, leadership, sound judgment, and a strong understanding of restaurant operations may advance into a Shift Leader position. Shift Leader duties may include coordinating front-of-house employees, assigning side work, managing breaks, handling guest concerns, supporting cash controls, and overseeing opening or closing procedures.

Compensation
Starting pay is California minimum wage plus tips. Tips typically add approximately $5–$15 per hour, depending on sales volume, shift, day of the week, and hours worked. Actual tips are not guaranteed and may vary.
