Job description:
Seeking part to full-time Culinary | Pastry Prep | Catering | Delivery Assistant with management growth opportunity for our locally owned, Java House | Heirloom Salad Company Commissary in Downtown Iowa City, Java House | Heirloom Salad Company. Position available within the hours of 6am and 11pm with 4 to 8 hour shifts and some mandatory, rotation weekend availability. Some scheduling flexibility is available for this position.
The Java House | Heirloom Salad Company Commissary operates seven days a week from 7am to 11pm. Our team assists with the catering food preparation, product creation, development, production and delivery of fresh pastries, sweets, hand-crafted soups and salad dressings for retail Java House and Heirloom Salad Company stores in Iowa City & North Liberty. While this position does not require direct Guest service interaction, it does require attention to detail, a passion for food creation, staff should be task-driven with the ability to work independently with our small team of 5-8 people. Culinary, bakery prep and delivery shifts may require lifting up to 40 pounds and evening shifts will require periodic delivery to local company owned stores in company provided delivery vehicle. Catering positions are generally weekday morning - mid day shifts.
Position does require ability to identify tasks, individual shift autonomy and ability to lead own shift.
Range of pay based on culinary experience, management, food development and part | full time status employment. Serv Safe certification a plus. The Java House offers full insurance benefits for team members who exceed 30 hours per week and acquire full-time status. Downtown parking pass may be available for full-time day shifts.
REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18 years of age. Ability to stand for extended hours, lift 30-40 pounds, ability to be exposed to 7 major food allergens. A valid driver's license with average driving record is desired.
