The job of the manager can be broken down into 3 things- Serving people, operational excellence, leadership. We are growing in our knowledge of coffee so we can provide a variety of drinks that satisfies every customer's needs. Second, it is the baristia’s service, the preparation of beverages for our customers. In order to provide great service the barista must be attentive and consistent to the protocols and expectations laid out in the training and manuals.
A manager is responsible for preparing excellent beverages, helping run our high-volume shop, providing genuine hospitality, creating a warm & welcoming experience for every customer we serve, as well as ensuring that all tasks are being completed in accordance with HEALTH REGULATIONS AND company standards
Managers will be expected to work at minimum 3 shifts a week and each shift is 6-8 hours long) and then maintain 2 structured administrative days for an average of 40 hours weekly.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing one assigned shop in the areas listed below. This job requires hands-on bar work, leadership, and administrative skills. Leadership is dedicated to facilitating the success of the manager and will work with and resource them along the way.

In Detail –

  1. Scheduled Bar Hours is simply a barista shift, like any scheduled barista shift
  2. Daily Barista Oversight will be accomplished by direct observation, teaching, and correction of all skills and duties primarily focusing on procedures, checklists, interpersonal skills, and workmanship.*
  3. Order and Stocking Supplies will be done through approved vendors and in accordance with needs and established par levels. All contact information, and processes will be provided under the direction of Shop Ops.
  4. Store Cleanliness is a matter of constant oversight as it relates to procedures and checklists as well as workmanship. Associated tasks are first the responsibility of the barista while their quality is under the care of the Store Manager along with unforeseen schedule needs.
  5. Maintaining and increasing store profitability is a task that involves effective management of retail, labor percentages, Profit and Loss statements, and other business accounting tools. The health of the store will be determined in part by this task. Owners will equip managers with necessary tools and knowledge to achieve this.
  6. Daily Procedures includes cleanliness but especially is concerned with the filling out of and proper use of opening, mid-shift, and closing checklists and procedures as well as those procedures continued development. For accountability purposes these must be consistently used by each barista and it is the Shop Manager responsibility to see that they are being used and the tasks thoroughly done.
  7. Money handling + Bank Drops and all accompanying paperwork will be regularly completed by the Shop Lead. All paperwork will be made available to Shop Ops.
  8. Schedule / Shift Maintenance includes being on-call, helping others to find needed shift coverage after they’ve exhausted their resources, reporting changes and needs to Shop Ops. Managers must use and train their employees to use Schedulefly for all scheduling and communications.
  9. Event oversight includes in-house and social media promotion, space prep, artist assistance, and any other in-store needs for bands, art installations, openings, and any other event scheduled through and by Shop Ops. This may be done personally or by delegation.
  10. Preventative Maintenance includes the regular cleaning of refrigeration compressors and fins, replacing air filters, regular espresso machine care including every 2 hour dispersion screen cleaning, and monthly gasket replacement. A Maintenance Schedule and training will be provided.
  11. Reporting to Shop Ops will include daily conversations and weekly Manager meetings. This will be done both verbally and in writing through supplied reports. The shop manager will be expected to participate in professional growth through activities, study, practice etc. Much of this will be assigned and/or sponsored by the company

Accountability Structure –
**The Shop Manager is a member of the Retail Team and will work with each corresponding member to give and receive necessary information and insight to help enrich each shop individually and all shops as a singular unit. The Shop Manager will oversee their store and staff and are themselves directly accountable to the Owner
Compensation –Salary

  • Compensation will be a function of salary and tips collected during scheduled bar hours. Additionally, bonuses may be earned when certain goals are met. These goals will relate to areas of enrichment or new development.
  • This includes 5 business day paid vacation (one week when counting Sat-Sun) plus one paid personal day per-quarter.
  • Average hourly expectation of a shop manager is a mix of 60% on bar and 40% administrative office duties and a minimum of 40 and max of 45 hours per-week.

Salary of 70k-75 + profit sharing per year. This salary includes not only the managerial duties
