Open Monday through Sunday and conveniently located on state route 40 and just off interstate 70 - we serve up delicious American fare food like our famous Stromboli, potato soup, Sherm Fries, and Hershey's Ice Cream via dine-in, take-out and delivery. We strive to provide a positive, family friendly atmosphere not just for our customers but also our staff. About your role:
Generally- to support Clay’s ownership in all aspects of maintaining and improving upon our culture and mission. In doing so, we know the success of our staff, our business and that of our customer’s dining experiences will be guaranteed.

Specifically- 1) to be the leader on duty, overseeing all aspects of the shift; to close the restaurant on scheduled evenings ensuring that all heating devices are off, surfaces cleaned, trash removed, doors locked and money dealt with. 2) to make specific batch dishes throughout the week so that we never run out nor have waste. Cooking will occur during the supervisor shift.

Supervisor Duties:

  • Be a beacon of positivity, every day, all day
  • Be knowledgeable of all positions’ responsibilities
  • Provide temporary support to any position as needed through busy periods
  • Cover shifts when unexpected openings occur
  • Provide quality control to ensure staff responsibilities are being carried out fully and correctly (basically enforce the employee handbook) as well as all food and beverages are being properly prepared and served.
  • Ensure staff schedules are being adhered to and make mid-shift adjustments to ensure labor costs are being considered when business levels change
  • Ensure staff breaks are offered and coverage for those positions are provided
  • Watch inventory levels during your shift and in rare cases, procure the items at the nearby grocery store 3 minutes down the road using the company credit card.
  • Oversee training of new-hires and current staff taking on additional roles
  • Handle customer questions, concerns that occur during your presence at the restaurant as well as following up with un-attended-to issues that occurred in your absence.
  • Periodically, check-in on customers who are dinning in to ensure their service and meals are being enjoyed
  • Ensure the restaurant stays compliant with the Health Code at all times
  • Attend the weekly leadership meeting
  • Ensure shift huddles occur daily and topics are recorded in the manager log
  • De-escalate stressed staff/customers
  • Motivate, train and coach staff with different backgrounds/needs
  • Learn from constructive feedback
  • Comprehend and follow through on directions given
  • Ensure all pertinent announcements are recorded in writing to the staff via our company messaging software or pertinent information is being added to the leadership log
  • Be the sole leader on the shift on slower nights of the week
  • Report to lead manager

Cook Duties:

  • Prepare the batch recipes for our newer entree dishes with a focus on using our extruder machine for our house made noodles.
    • Spaghetti
    • Fettucini
    • Alfredo Sauce
    • Lasagna
    • Manicotti
    • Mashed Potatoes
    • Gravy
    • Meatballs (large & mini)
  • Determine a schedule to make these dishes so that we never run out of each item
  • Determine the quantity of these batches to make so that we don’t have food waste
  • Occasionally assist our other cook with additional batch recipes (shredded chicken, pulled pork, bacon, baked chicken)

Requirements:

  • At least 21 years old
  • High school graduate
  • Reliable vehicle, driver’s license and necessary automobile insurance coverage
  • Previous restaurant experience required
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (see responsibilities)
  • Proficient in technology (documents, spreadsheets, printing, emails, apps).
  • High attention to detail
  • Stay organized and prioritize a large number of tasks

We utilize several software programs to help us track and manage the business. While prior knowledge of these programs is not required, we wanted to let you know your utilization of them is required from onboarding

  • 7shifts - scheduling, staff messages, leadership log
  • Toast - POS, timekeeping
  • Asana - tracking assigned leadership tasks and company projects
  • Jolt - checklists and accountability

Current Structure: 2 owner partners, 3 leaders and line staff. All together, roughly 40 strong in the winter and pushing 50+ in the summer.
Expectation of Hours:

  • Full time position 36-42hrs/week
  • Messages received when not clocked in such as additions to the manager log are not required to be reviewed until clocking into your next shift.
  • Below is how you will be scheduled typically (42hrs) but closing times are almost always earlier. Every closing shift end time varies as it is dependent on when the final cleaning/closing duties are completed. Some nights all duties are completed by 9:15am, some 9:45 for example. In reality it is unlikely that you will work more than 40hrs:
