Barback / Bartenders Wanted
BreakRoom 248
248 Main St, Bridgton, ME 04009, USAJob Overview
Bartender / Barback — Full-Time or Part-Time
BreakRoom 248 | Bar • Arcade • Venue | Bridgton, Maine
BreakRoom 248 is looking for a bartender who knows how to take care of a room—not just make drinks.
We’re an established, locally owned bar, arcade, and live entertainment venue. Depending on the night, we may have pool league, karaoke, live music, a special event, or a crowd that goes from relaxed to packed without much warning.
Bartending is the primary focus of this position, but this is still a team operation. Everyone behind the bar helps stock, clean, clear glassware, reset the room, and keep service moving. We’re also open to applicants interested in starting as a barback and training into bartending shifts.
We take service, safety, and the business seriously, but we are not a corporate chain. You do not need a rehearsed customer-service voice. You do need to be dependable, confident, aware of your surroundings, and capable of keeping your composure when the room gets busy.
The expectations are simple: show up, stay sharp, take care of people, and leave the bar better than you found it.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and serve beer, wine, mixed drinks, shots, and nonalcoholic beverages accurately and efficiently
- Greet customers, take orders, and provide attentive service without making guests feel rushed or ignored
- Check identification and follow all alcohol-service, sanitation, and safety requirements
- Enter orders and process cash and card payments accurately using our Clover POS system
- Maintain control of your bar, monitor guest behavior, and communicate with management or security when necessary
- Keep your station stocked with liquor, beer, ice, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and other supplies
- Wash and organize glassware throughout the shift
- Clear empty glasses and help keep tables and customer areas clean
- Assist with opening, closing, restocking, and end-of-night cleaning
- Safely move cases, kegs, deliveries, and other bar supplies
- Communicate clearly with bartenders, barbacks, management, security, and other team members during service
- Help wherever needed during a rush—nobody here is above grabbing ice, clearing a table, or restocking a cooler
Who We’re Looking For
- Previous bartending experience is strongly preferred
- Barback, restaurant, hospitality, or high-volume customer-service experience is also valuable
- Confident and personable with customers without forcing a fake personality
- Able to work quickly while remaining accurate, organized, and aware of the room
- Comfortable handling money, basic math, and POS transactions
- Knowledgeable about common drinks, pours, bar setup, and responsible alcohol service
- Reliable, punctual, and able to communicate clearly
- Able to recognize what needs to be done without waiting for instructions every time
- Willing to clean, stock, lift, organize, and handle the less glamorous parts of bar work
- Able to stand and remain active for extended periods
- Comfortable working evenings, late nights, weekends, and busy events
- Must meet all legal requirements for serving alcohol
Applicants with less bartending experience may still be considered for a barback position with the opportunity to train into bartending shifts. Work ethic, reliability, and the ability to handle the environment matter just as much as having an impressive résumé.
Schedule and Compensation
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available
- Evening, late-night, and weekend availability is required for most shifts
- Strong Thursday, Friday, and Saturday availability is a major plus
- Hourly pay plus tips or tip-out, depending on the role and shift
- Additional bartending opportunities available based on experience, performance, and availability
What You Can Expect
BreakRoom has spent years building its own identity within the local nightlife scene. Our calendar includes pool leagues, karaoke, live entertainment, special events, arcade games, and a strong base of regular customers. The pace changes from night to night, and the people working here need to be able to change with it.
We value bartenders who understand that the job is more than pouring drinks. It means reading the room, remembering customers, working clean, supporting the people around you, and remaining professional when things get loud or busy.
We’re looking for someone who wants to become a dependable part of the operation—not someone who only wants to stand behind the bar and collect tips.
Apply with your availability, relevant experience, and a little about why you think you would be a good fit for BreakRoom 248.
