Alva Beer Co. is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Pizza Oven Operator/ prep cook to join our kitchen team. You will be responsible for firing our artisan pizzas to perfection in a high-temperature oven, ensuring they are cooked consistently and to our high standards. This position is a duel role. Days that you are not on the schedule as the person who fires the pizzas, you will work as the prep cook that builds the pizzas.
As a key player in delivering our signature pizzas, you will be working closely with the kitchen team to guarantee quality and efficiency during service. If you have a passion for cooking, a keen eye for timing, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this position is for you!

Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage the pizza oven
  • Monitor cooking times
  • Rotate pizzas in the oven to achieve even cooking, adjusting temperature or placement as needed
  • Inspect finished pizzas for quality control, ensuring correct toppings, appearance, and finish
  • Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and accurate service
  • Maintain a clean and organized pizza oven station, including cleaning the oven and preparing it for daily use
  • Assist in prepping dough, sauces, and toppings as needed
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment
  • Communicate with the kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service flow
  • will trade from pizza oven operator to prep cook depending on day/shift

Skills

  • Experience working with wood-fired, gas, or electric ovens is a plus, but training can be provided
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure every pizza meets quality standards
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and work in a warn environment
  • Good communication skills to collaborate with the kitchen team and manage orders effectively
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and proper handling of ingredients
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple pizzas in the oven at once
  • Team-oriented mindset and willingness to assist with other kitchen tasks when needed

Prior pizza-making or culinary experience is a plus, but on-the-job training will be provided
