We're looking to grow our events team here at Prairie Falls! We're on the hunt for hardworking individuals who want to be part of the foundational key to running a smooth & successful event. We host and operate a diverse range of events from weddings, birthdays, and celebrations of life, to more corporate events like fundraisers, workshops, company holiday parties, and more. We have outdoor concerts in the summer and various indoor events in the winter for year round activity that we're only looking to increase - are you the right individual to help us take things to the next level?
An ideal candidate for the Event Crew at Prairie Falls is someone who takes great care in ensuring everything is where it needs to be, in the condition it should be, and in a timely manner. Ideal candidates would ensure everything is torn down and put back in the correct locations promptly. Beyond initial training, ideal candidates would be able to work efficiently without constant supervision, and be able to problem solve when obstacles come up or communicate thoroughly when manager intervention is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Set up any and all equipment necessary for each event including but not limited to stage, dance floor, tables, chairs, linens, table settings, signage, event stations, etc.
  • Completing all required set up for each event within the designated time frames and deadlines provided.
  • Performing any necessary mid-event tasks including but not limited to: scanning/selling tickets at check-in tables or as a floater inside the event, taking out trash and replacing trash bin liners, running supply refills to any event bars or food stations.
  • Completing all tear down/put away/cleanup/removal of any and all equipment that was set up for the event in the designated time frames and deadlines provided.
  • Complying with all current storage procedures of equipment.
  • Document all accidents or injuries, items needing repair, missing equipment, etc during shift directly to supervisor.
  • Report all unresolved issues that occurred during shift directly to supervisor.
  • Attend all department team meetings, workshops, and training sessions as delegated by manager
  • Must be able to receive constructive criticism well and be a team player.
  • Maintain professionalism & quality customer service at all times when working with clients, supervisors, other staff, and the general public when on the premises.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Must have reliable means of transportation
  • Must have strong verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to provide excellent customer service
  • Professional conduct including good attendance and ability to maintain professionalism at all times
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Must be able to work from heights of up to 15 feet, utilizing a ladder as needed
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds while walking and climbing stairs
  • Must possess the ability to lift, carry and set up an 8-foot table
  • Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
  • Must be able to stand/be moving for up to 8-10 hours during a shift
  • Must be able to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and weekdays.
  • Must be able to accommodate an inconsistent work schedule that lines up with events.

Skills

  • Flexibility - must be able to adapt to a quick changing environment as well as a different schedule each week to align with the events calendar.
  • Excellent Communication - we need the type of person who, if you don't know, goes and finds out. Unsure of the instructions? Be the person to ask and clarify instead of assuming. Run into an obstacle you don't know how to approach? Communicate to your manager for next steps.
  • Problem Solver - Be able to use critical thinking to independently solve typical problems that may occur in your job scope. When supervisor involvement is necessary, learning from their approach to further your capabilities in handling obstacles moving forward.
  • Multi-Tasking - Manage your time efficiently and keep track of new/ongoing tasks you may be given mid-shift to ensure all tasks are completed within provided time frames.
  • Cash Handling - Be able to accurately count/handle cash and remit accurate change when processing transactions.
