The Karr Group, Killington, Vermont’s largest hospitality management company, is seeking an experienced Barback to join our hospitality team!
We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking, fast-paced Barback with experience in a high-volume restaurant, bar, or nightlife environment. As a Barback, you’ll play an essential role in keeping the bar stocked, organized, clean, and running efficiently throughout service.
You’ll work closely with bartenders and the management team to ensure they have everything they need to provide excellent service to our guests. This is an active, hands-on position that requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate what the bar team needs.
What You'll Do
- Support bartenders and the bar team throughout service.
- Keep the bar fully stocked with beer, wine, liquor, mixers, garnishes, ice, glassware, and other supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and restock supplies quickly and efficiently.
- Organize and maintain beverage, food, and bar inventory to ensure supplies are easy to locate and properly stored.
- Prepare and cook late-night food orders accurately and efficiently during busy service periods.
- Keep bar stations, kitchen areas, service areas, and storage areas clean and organized.
- Wash and organize glassware as needed.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including bar setup, kitchen prep, inventory organization, and breakdown.
- Help maintain an efficient flow of service during busy periods.
- Transport and properly store beverages, food, supplies, and inventory.
- Communicate with bartenders and management regarding inventory needs, shortages, and ordering requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the shift.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Assist the team with other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Barback, Food Runner, Server Assistant, or similar role in a high-volume restaurant, bar, or nightlife environment required.
- Basic knowledge of liquors, spirits, beer, wine, and common mixers preferred.
- Familiarity with bar terminology, equipment, and service practices preferred.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to anticipate needs and take initiative without constant direction.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent time-management skills.
- Ability to follow direction and work well as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and remain active for extended periods.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
