Core Responsibilities:
Beverage Preparation and Service:
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and customer preferences.
- Mix cocktails, pour beer and wine, and prepare other drinks with precision and efficiency.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of drink recipes, ingredients, and preparation techniques.
- Create and recommend drink specials and new cocktails.
Hospitality:
- Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take drink orders, answer questions about menu items, and provide recommendations.
- Ensure guest satisfaction by addressing concerns and resolving issues promptly.
- Build rapport with regular guests and create a welcoming atmosphere.
Bar Maintenance and Operations:
- Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including glassware, utensils, and equipment.
- Stock and replenish bar supplies, including liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and garnishes.
- Monitor and manage inventory, reporting shortages or discrepancies to management.
- Operate and maintain bar equipment, such as blenders, shakers, and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately.
Responsible Alcohol Service:
- Verify the age of guests and ensure compliance with legal drinking age requirements.
- Monitor customer alcohol consumption and intervene when necessary to prevent over-intoxication.
- Adhere to responsible alcohol service guidelines and regulations.
- Refuse service to intoxicated patrons.
Teamwork and Communication:
- Collaborate with other bar staff and restaurant personnel to ensure efficient service.
- Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Follow instructions from management and adhere to established policies and procedures.
Other Duties:
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down the bar.
- May assist with food preparation or service as needed.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- 4 years experience as a Bartender in a fast-paced environment.
- Extensive knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle cash and operate POS systems.
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
- Relevant certifications above and beyond Smart Serve an asset
- A friendly and outgoing personality with a neat, clean and stylish appearance.
