Café Manager

Sweet Bean is a Taiwanese-American bakery and café specializing in freshly made breads, pastries, desserts, and specialty drinks. We are looking for a dependable, hands-on manager to lead daily café operations while working alongside the team.
This is an active, customer-facing role. The manager will regularly serve customers, prepare drinks, and support the floor in addition to handling leadership and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily café operations and ensure smooth, efficient service
• Work alongside baristas by taking orders, preparing drinks, serving customers, and maintaining the café
• Train, coach, and support team members
• Create shift assignments and help manage employee schedules
• Maintain high standards for customer service, drink quality, cleanliness, and presentation
• Handle opening and closing procedures, cash management, and daily checklists
• Monitor inventory and communicate ordering or supply needs
• Help resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly
• Enforce food-safety, sanitation, attendance, and workplace policies
• Communicate operational issues and team updates to ownership
• Help improve procedures, reduce waste, and maintain efficient labor
• Ensure the café is properly staffed and prepared during busy periods
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and employee performance feedback

Qualifications

• Previous café, restaurant, retail, or hospitality experience required
• Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
• Friendly, professional, and comfortable giving clear direction
• Reliable, organized, and able to handle multiple priorities
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Willing to work actively alongside the team
• Comfortable addressing attendance, performance, and customer-service issues
• Available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Food Handler Certificate required; Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks
• Comfortable working around hot equipment and in a fast-paced environment
