Job Overview
The Steward at Paris Baguette is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and café environment while supporting daily bakery-café operations. This role ensures that all dishes, utensils, equipment, and food preparation areas are cleaned and properly stored according to company and food safety standards. The Steward also assists with receiving and storing deliveries, trash removal, and maintaining cleanliness in both back-of-house and service areas to help the team deliver an excellent guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a steady supply of clean dishes, utensils, baking tools, pots, pans, and serviceware by washing, sanitizing, and properly storing items.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, bakery tools, sinks, counters, racks, floors, and other work areas in accordance with Paris Baguette cleanliness and food safety standards.
- Support the team by bussing, cleaning, and resetting café and dining areas as needed.
- Prepare the bakery-café for the next shift by restocking supplies and ensuring all stations are clean, organized, and ready for service.
- Receive, unload, and properly store deliveries, following product storage, labeling, and rotation procedures.
- Assist with proper food storage and rotation to help maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Sweep and mop floors regularly, including immediate cleanup of spills or broken items to maintain a safe work environment.
- Empty trash and recycling, clean garbage containers, and maintain overall back-of-house cleanliness.
- Support bakers, kitchen staff, and café team members with additional tasks as needed during busy periods.
- Report equipment issues, safety hazards, accidents, and food safety concerns promptly to management.
Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a bakery, restaurant, café, food service, or related environment preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with team members.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- Basic understanding of sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety practices preferred.
