Garage Taco Bar Head Chef Position: We are now hiring for a HEAD CHEF position.
Location: Binghamton NY Located in the heart of Binghamton, the Binghamton Garage is a taco bar dedicated to serving fresh local food with a street inspired menu that vibes close to the soul. Position Summary This is Great Opportunity to join an established and growing local restaurant. We are seeking a growth minded Head Chef looking to grow roots and evaluate themselves for our business. In this position you will be responsible for the success of both the culinary and food service operation. Education and Certification

2-year college degree or BS in culinary arts, or closely related field (preferred)

Current food safety certification, such as ServSafe and SafeStaff (preferred)

Experience

3+ years of experience managing the full range of a restaurant kitchen

Excels as a leader and knows how to direct the staff with the goal of providing an excellent culinary food and service experience for our guests

Excels as a teacher and will develop, elevate and motivate the staff

Understands the importance of the dynamics between the front and back of house while attaining the ultimate experience for our guests

Knows the flow of a kitchen and has a passion for fresh ingredients and creativity

Does not shy away from a challenge

Understands and is accustomed to high volume service

Is excellent at menu planning, development and costing

Is organized, clean, professional and efficient

Excellent record of kitchen and staff management.

Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations while providing solutions

Advanced knowledge the industry’s best practices regarding food profession principles and practices

Excellent knowledge of BOH systems, ordering, inventory and cost management

Excellent communication skills

Ability to meet deadlines Duties and Responsibilities Head Chefs complete a variety of creative, organizational and leadership tasks to ensure a kitchen runs optimally and patrons’ meals are satisfactory. Responsibilities frequently include:

Developing unique and cuisine-appropriate menus

Collaborating with the Restaurant Manager to set item prices

Staying current on developing trends in the restaurant industry 

Maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas in conditions that meet the company standards and health code regulations

Monitoring inventory and purchasing supplies and food from approved vendors

Hiring, training and supervising kitchen staff

Assisting and directing kitchen staff in meal preparation, creation, plating and delivery

Identifying and introducing new culinary techniques

Preparing meals and completing prep support as needed

Schedule Requirements

Full-time

Available to work on call, shifts, after hours, over weekends and on public holidays

Schedule may fluctuate based on restaurant requirements
