Assistant Teacher - Preschool
We are seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Assistant Teacher to join our preschool team. The ideal candidate will support the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of young children. Candidates must meet MSDE requirements for an Assistant Teacher position.
ResponsibilitiesAssist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson implementation

  • Support children in learning through play, structured activities, and routines
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom
  • Supervise children during indoor play, outdoor play, meals, rest time, and transitions
  • Encourage positive behavior and model respectful interactions
  • Build warm, supportive relationships with children and families
  • Assist with classroom records, attendance, and required documentation
  • Follow all licensing, health, and safety regulations

Qualifications

  • Must meet Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) requirements for Preschool Assistant Teacher
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred
  • Prior experience working with preschool-aged children preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Patient, reliable, and passionate about working with young children
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain

Schedule

  • Full-time / Part-time available
  • Monday-Friday
  • Hours based on program needs
