Core Cleaning Duties

  • Wash and Sanitize: Operate industrial dish machines or use a three-compartment sink setup to clean plates, glasses, silverware, pots, and pans.
  • Scrape and Sort: Clear food scraps from dirty dishes and load them into racks before washing.
  • Store and Stock: Put clean dishes, glasses, and cookware away in their proper shelves and storage areas.
  • Hand Wash: Clean delicate items, large pots, or wooden tools by hand that cannot go into the machine.

Station and Kitchen Maintenance

  • Floor Care: Sweep and mop kitchen floors regularly to clear water, food spills, or broken glass.
  • Waste Disposal: Empty trash cans, replace liners, and take garbage or recycling to outdoor dumpsters.
  • Equipment Upkeep: Clean dishwashers, sinks, and surrounding walls at the start and end of shifts.
  • Chemical Monitoring: Check soap, detergent, and sanitizer levels to ensure machines meet health codes.

General Support Tasks

  • Basic Food Prep: Help kitchen staff peel vegetables, chop ingredients, or portion food during slow periods.
  • Restocking: Bring clean plates and utensils out to service lines or dining room stations.
  • Bussing: Clear tables or trays in the dining area when extra help is needed.
