Lifeguard Job Description — Pittsburgh Golf Club
Pittsburgh Golf Club is seeking alert, responsible lifeguards to help keep our members and guests safe while creating a welcoming pool environment. Lifeguards monitor the water and surrounding areas, enforce safety rules, respond quickly to emergencies, and provide basic first aid when needed.
Responsibilities:

  • Watch swimmers closely and identify potential safety risks.
  • Enforce pool rules and explain them clearly to members and guests.
  • Respond to emergencies, perform water rescues, and administer CPR/first aid as certified.
  • Inspect pool areas and safety equipment before and during shifts.
  • Keep the pool deck, rescue equipment, and work area clean and organized.
  • Report incidents, injuries, hazards, and equipment issues to a supervisor.
  • Provide friendly, professional assistance to members and guests.

Qualifications:

  • Current lifeguard certification required.
  • Current CPR/AED and first-aid certification required.
  • Strong swimming ability and confidence in emergency response.
  • Ability to remain attentive for extended periods and act calmly under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and a dependable, professional attitude.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Season Completion Bonus:
Employees who work through the full pool season in good standing will be eligible for a season-completion bonus.
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to swim, tread water, lift or assist swimmers, and perform rescue procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
