Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Cook at The Wharf is responsible for preparing high-quality menu items in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen. This role requires consistency, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining our standards for food quality, safety, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute menu items according to The Wharf’s recipes, specs, and plating standards
  • Maintain consistent food quality, portioning, and presentation
  • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure timely ticket execution
  • Assist with prep work, stocking, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace
  • Communicate clearly with chefs and managers regarding inventory, prep needs, and service flow
  • Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment during and after service
  • Support other kitchen stations as needed during busy services

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Prior line cook or kitchen experience preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
  • Strong understanding of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and commitment to consistency
  • Strong time-management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to take direction and work as part of a team
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Food safety knowledge; ServSafe certification a plus
