Job Overview
Position Summary:
The Cook at The Wharf is responsible for preparing high-quality menu items in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen. This role requires consistency, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining our standards for food quality, safety, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and execute menu items according to The Wharf’s recipes, specs, and plating standards
- Maintain consistent food quality, portioning, and presentation
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure timely ticket execution
- Assist with prep work, stocking, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace
- Communicate clearly with chefs and managers regarding inventory, prep needs, and service flow
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment during and after service
- Support other kitchen stations as needed during busy services
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Prior line cook or kitchen experience preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
- Strong understanding of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to consistency
- Strong time-management and multitasking skills
- Ability to take direction and work as part of a team
- Dependable, punctual, and professional demeanor
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Food safety knowledge; ServSafe certification a plus
