Cantina Norte was created to showcase the best Mexican cuisine tailored for the Canadian palate. Founded by a brother-sister partnership of a multi-generational restaurant family, Cantina Norte aims to support its employees, guests and community here at home and afar through partnership programs like Feed the Hungry where we have adopted a school lunch program where we not only provide all lunches to all students throughout the year but also provide nutritional education for their families in rural Mexico.

As the Guest Services Supervisor, you serve as the leader of the guest services team and the first point of escalation for any customer guest-related concerns. The following details outline your responsibilities and our expectation of you in this role:

Role Basics

Location: Cantina Norte Edgemont Village
Schedule: Full-time, various shifts 5 days per week, including mornings, late evenings and weekends.
Position: Guest Services Supervisor
Reports to: General Manager
Salary: Annual salary (based on experience) + medical & dental benefits after 3 months

Objectives & Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the door through service making sure that guests are seated, phones are answers and deliveries are dispatched and any other guest service need that arrises is handled with a smile.
  • Resposible for reservations platform and ensure that all guest comments/concerns are addressed as it relates to thier reservations;
  • Ensures that all large party reservations are booked and executed without incident;
  • Oversee all customer communications and making sure the guest services team is ready to provide exceptional service as per all company policies.
  • Memorise all food and beverage menu items and customer services to respond to guest inquiries accurately. This includes prices, preparation method/time, key ingredients and preparation methodology, taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, garnish and allergens;
  • Ensuring FOH is clean and presentable at all times;
  • Assisting General Manager with training hosts;
  • All other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Be awesome!
  • 2+ year(s) of customer service experience with 3+ years of total restaurant experience.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Your friends describe you as a charmer.
  • The ability to anticipate guests’ needs before they are even aware of them themselves. A proven record of exceptional customer service. You have a particular skill in turning difficult situations into success stories.
  • The desire to be a part of a team, with a sense of shared responsibility for your coworkers’ success.
  • A “work hard, play hard” mentality.
  • Possess problem solving skills and be able to work with little supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to improvise.
  • High level of comfort and familiarity with today's leading technologies (iPhone/Android).
  • Ability to legally work in Canada (Valid Work Permit etc.)

Assets (but not essential):

  • Knowledge of BC wine, classic cocktails, coffee, Tequila/Mezcal, craft beer, and Mexican cuisine.
  • Valid BC Food Safe certification; and
  • Valid Serving It Right certification.
  • A valid first aid certificate.
