Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Ltd. is looking for applicants for a part-time Banquet Captain position. The ideal applicant is available daytime on weekdays and/or weekend evenings.

Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club does not reside on a public transit route: reliable mode of transportation a must!

JOB SUMMARY
Directly supervise and execute banquet event requirements according to the specifications both written or orally communicated, while ensuring club policy and procedures are strictly followed and enforced.

DUTIES & TASKS

  • Communicate with event hosts prior to, during, and after the event to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction
  • Lead banquet team by example, following required setup, timing, and service specifications at outlined by the Banquet Event Order and through direct requests by the Hazelmere’s event coordination team and the event host
  • Set up and ensure proper functioning of event AV requirements, monitoring and adjusting equipment as needed throughout event and ensuring proper storage of equipment after use
  • Execute any other duties as requested by immediate supervisors
  • Assign and monitor cleaning and organizational duties to banquet staff

Work Characteristics

  • Will be required to work on a shift basis, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Due to nature of industry schedules will not be predictable; scheduling is based on number of events booked in any given week and will fluctuate week to week.
  • Morning shifts may start as early as 5:30AM, evening shifts may end as late as 3:00AM
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and be able to maintain organization and a positive attitude

Work Conditions

  • Primarily inside work within a restaurant environment, for private and public services
  • Some outside work required
  • May at times be required to push, pull, lift or carry items weighing up to 50lbs

Professional & Technical Knowledge

  • Previous food and beverage and/or customer service experience required, previous banquet experience preferred
  • Understanding of the golf and country club environment
  • Golf knowledge an asset

Performance Criteria

  • Ensure each guest receives consistent services and products
  • Ensure safety conditions are in place for employees and guests of the Club

Time Considerations

  • Must be able to meet deadlines as required
  • Work efficiently in a non-supervised position

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Human Resources Assistance

  • Stay current with the Club’s policies and procedures
  • Maintain a high level staff morale
  • Assume Duty Manager Role for the Clubhouse as required

Operational Assistance

  • Ensure that POS system is operational and accurate at all times
  • Confirm banquet staff report to work on time and in proper uniform
  • Ensure maintenance of the cleanliness and equipment within the banquet department, reporting all major maintenance requirements to management

Financial Assistance

  • Assist with ensuring that department budget is strictly adhered to and that all costs are controlled
  • Complete accurate billing for each function, collecting payments directly when required

Administration Assistance

  • Ensure that all preparation and closing duties are performed according to standards and published checklists, filling in detailed reports of event occurrences for record keeping purposes
  • Ensure proper ordering, receiving, storage procedures are being followed
  • Ensure that all company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook are adhered to by staff
  • Monitor guest behaviour, ensuring safety of persons and property.
