Position Overview
As a Food Runner, you play a critical role in ensuring our guests have an exceptional dining experience. You are the link between the kitchen and the dining room, responsible for delivering food quickly, accurately, and with a friendly attitude. In our fast-paced restaurant and beer hall, efficiency, communication, and teamwork are essential.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Food Delivery
- Deliver food from the kitchen to the correct tables promptly.
- Confirm each dish with the order ticket and with guests upon delivery.
- Ensure plates are presentable and garnished correctly before leaving the kitchen.
- Carry multiple plates using proper tray or arm-carrying techniques when necessary.
2. Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate clearly with servers, kitchen staff, and expo to ensure timely service.
- Ask if a guest needs additional items (e.g., condiments, utensils).
- Coordinate with other runners to evenly distribute the workload during peak hours.
3. Guest Interaction
- Greet guests courteously when delivering food.
- Answer basic questions about dishes (know common allergens, ingredients).
- Direct any specific guest requests to the appropriate server or manager.
4. Support Front & Back of House
- Assist the kitchen staff by returning dirty dishes, ramekins, and trays promptly.
- Help servers clear dishes, reset tables, and restock service stations.
- Support bussing and host teams when needed during high-volume times.
5. Cleanliness & Organization
- Keep the expo area clean and organized at all times.
- Ensure side stations and runner trays are clean and properly stocked.
- Follow all sanitation protocols and food safety guidelines.
6. Beer Hall-Specific Duties
- Navigate safely through large crowds with full trays and plates.
- Remain aware of events, large parties, and seating arrangements.
- Familiarize yourself with the beer menu and food pairings to support guest questions or recommendations.
7. Safety & Efficiency
- Report spills, broken items, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Use proper lifting techniques and always be aware of your surroundings.
- Move quickly but carefully, prioritizing safety and guest comfort.
8. Handling Special Events
- Assist in setting up and breaking down food stations for large events.
- Deliver trays and platters to designated party areas.
- Provide professional and friendly service to event guests.
