Job Overview

Core Duties

  • Wash Dishes, Glassware, Flatware, pots and pans using dish machine and manual methods
  • Operate and maintain dish machine (Temps, Chemical Levels, cycle checks)
  • Sort and stack clean items propperly for storage/service
  • Keep Dish pit organized and drain clear during rushes

Kitchen Support

  • Empty trash and recycling regularly; break down boxes
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors, especially dish area
  • Wipe down prep stations, sinks, and walls as needed
  • Restock clean dishware, silverware, and glasses to line/FOH as needed
  • Assist with basic food prep when needed (washing produce, simple cutting)

Sanitation & Safety

  • Follow proper handwashing and food safety protocols
  • Sanitize work surfaces and equipment per health code
  • Report equipment issues (broken dish machine, low chemicals) to manager
  • Wear non-slip shoes and follow safe lifting practices

Closing Duties

  • Deep clean dish pit, floor drains, and mats at close

  • Break down and sanitize dish machine

  • Take out final trash/recycling

  • Ensure kitchen is stocked and ready for next shift

Skills

  • Ability to stand for long shifts (6-10+ hours)

  • Comfortable with repetitive motion and heavy lifting (bussing tubs, stock, trash)

  • Works well in hot, wet, fast paced conditions

  • Speed and efficiency under pressure

  • Reliability and punctuality- kitchen grinds to a hault without dish coverage

  • Ability to work as part of a team with cooks, servers and management

  • Positive attitude, low drama

  • Communication with kitchen staff about shortages (plates, silverware running low)

  • Adaptabiity- Jumping in on prep or other tasks when slow
