Our Saint John site is a micro-home courtyard designed to offer low-barrier, wraparound support to individuals exiting homelessness. About the Role
The Site Supervisor helps bring steady rhythm to life on the courtyard. This full-time role provides direct, on-shift supervision and operational support to ensure each day runs smoothly, safely, and consistently for both staff and residents.
Working under the Site Manager, the Site Supervisor is a calm, relational presence who leads by example during active shifts — coordinating team flow, supporting residents, and responding to day-to-day needs with a grounded, team-first approach. Key Responsibilities
Shift Leadership & Team Coordination
- Act as on-site lead during scheduled shifts, maintaining operational flow and staff direction
- Support shift transitions, ensuring handovers are smooth and timely
- Provide real-time coaching and guidance to facilitators as needed
- Lead or support staff debriefs and incident follow-ups during and after challenging situations
- Ensure accurate documentation, communication, and updates are completed during shifts
Resident Engagement & Community Support
- Build consistent, trust-based relationships with residents, rooted in respect and healthy boundaries
- Respond to resident needs and community dynamics with compassion and calm clarity
- Support resident check-ins, wellness inspections, and community meetings
- Maintain presence in shared spaces to support a welcoming, respectful community environment
Operational Oversight
- Ensure site safety, cleanliness, and upkeep throughout each shift
- Help coordinate coverage when staff are late, absent, or reassigned
- Monitor compliance with shift structure, rest periods, and overnight premiums in accordance with NB labour law
- Communicate on-site concerns (facility, behavioral, staffing) promptly to the Site Manager
- Ensure continuity of systems such as incident reporting, meal coverage, and scheduling tools
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in housing, shelter systems, or community-based frontline work
- Experience supervising, coaching, or leading staff in a shift-based environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in real time
- Skilled communicator with a calm, respectful leadership style
- Familiarity with housing-first, harm reduction, or low-barrier models is an asset
- Must pass a criminal record and vulnerable sector check
- Reliable transportation is required for shift coverage and emergencies
Certifications
Applicants must have, or be able to obtain prior to employment:
- Workplace Standard First Aid & CPR (16-hour course)
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (including Social Development clearance)
The following are considered strong assets and may be supported through training if not yet held:
- Naloxone / Opioid Overdose Response Training
- Mental Health First Aid
- ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
- Trauma-Informed Practice Training
Working Conditions
- Full-time, 40 hours/week on a rotating schedule, including day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
- Must be available to respond to on-site needs during assigned shifts
- Overnight hours (12 AM – 8 AM) are eligible for a $2.26/hour premium under NB labour law
- Participation in all-staff meetings, debriefs, and training sessions is required
