Job Description: Sushi Chef for Thai and Sushi Restaurant

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and creative Sushi Chef to join our vibrant Thai and Sushi restaurant. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes while adhering to our restaurant's standards of excellence in taste, presentation, and service. Your expertise in sushi preparation, artistic flair, and commitment to quality will play a vital role in enhancing the dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and create a variety of sushi dishes, including maki rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty rolls, following traditional and contemporary sushi-making techniques.
  • Ensure all sushi ingredients are fresh, of high quality, and meet our restaurant's standards for taste and appearance.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate sushi orders with the Thai cuisine to ensure a seamless and timely dining experience for guests.
  • Maintain a clean and organized sushi station, including the proper handling, storage, and rotation of sushi ingredients and tools.
  • Comply with all food safety and sanitation regulations, ensuring the kitchen area and sushi station meet the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain sushi knives and other equipment to ensure they are in optimal condition for use.
  • Stay updated on sushi trends, new ingredients, and techniques to continually enhance the sushi menu and offerings.
  • Interact with guests, answer their questions about the sushi menu, and accommodate special requests while providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Train and mentor junior sushi chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to sushi preparation techniques and food safety guidelines.
  • Contribute to menu development by suggesting new sushi creations and seasonal additions to keep the menu fresh and exciting.
  • Collaborate with restaurant management to monitor inventory levels and place orders for sushi ingredients and supplies as needed.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef in a reputable restaurant or sushi bar, showcasing expertise in various sushi preparation techniques.
  • Knowledge of sushi ingredients, fish types, and sushi rice preparation, ensuring the highest quality and taste of sushi dishes.
  • Strong creativity and attention to detail, with the ability to create visually appealing and delicious sushi presentations.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences and a commitment to maintaining the restaurant's reputation for outstanding sushi offerings.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations, ensuring compliance in the kitchen and sushi station.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the restaurant's operating hours.
  • Culinary degree or sushi chef certification is a plus, but not mandatory.
