Foster Team Director: The Foster Team Director is a volunteer role that is eager to connect cats in need to caring foster homes by displaying flexibility, creativity, responsiveness, and a positive outlook. The Foster Director inspires community members to want to become fosters, and also ensures an excellent experience for each foster and cat(s) in their care. During the foster interview process, the Foster Director creates an open and positive environment that allows foster applicants to share detailed information so that we can assess compatibility, and a thorough process including interview, reference checks, home inspection, and other touchpoints as needed.
Time commitment of at least 8 hours per week

  • Professionally and passionately leads the Foster team
  • Ensures that the overall flow of cats into the rescue, through the foster process, and to point of adoption is smooth, agile, and well managed
  • Balances the amount of cats to rescue from owner surrenders and high kill shelters to ensure the maximum number of cats is being saved
  • Assesses the factors that allow Pounce to rescue additional cats prior to committing including
    • Funding sources
    • Space
    • Current number of cats in rescue
    • Status of cats in rescue flow already (health, age, medical care, etc)
  • Proactively maintains a positive working relationship with the area cat advocates, shelters, and network of community members to ensure we can maximize the number of cats we rescue
  • Partners with the Social Media and Fundraising/Philanthropy teams to ensure that each cat has the proper level of funding based on general health, medical needs, etc
  • Promptly contacts each incoming Foster Applicant using multiple communication methods (i.e. Email, Phone Call, Text message) to ensure we capture the foster while they are excited about fostering with us; and updates all statuses in Shelterluv
  • Proactively and comprehensively responds to the varying needs of the fosters, ensuring that the fosters feel supported at all times. This includes providing initial foster home training, answering questions, coordinating care, sharing tips, etc
