General Manager (San Antonio)
At Cape Bottle Room, we believe that wine is a driver of community and conversation. We will bring South Africa to Central Texas and change the conversation, all while expanding our community through wine.
As the General Manager at Cape Bottle Room, you will act as an ambassador to the company’s wines and our expectations for hospitality. We will give you the necessary tools to learn the country’s history, wine and culture, and we hope that in return you serve our guests with passion and professionalism. Strong wine knowledge and a background of hospitality is required, but of more importance is your ability to lead by example, to work with integrity and to be a mentor and trainer for your service teams.
This position will start in San Antonio, but it will eventually encompass both locations in Austin and San Antonio. We hope that you will join our team as we look to grow the wines of South Africa here in Central Texas!
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the day-to-day business operations run smoothly
- Exhibits a professional demeanor and the desire to advance the mission of Cape Bottle Room
- Provides exceptional hospitality and attentive, friendly service to all guests
- Upholds our standards for hospitality, professionalism and teamwork
- Owns the culture and models our values
- Recruits, hires, trains and develops talent
- Learns the wines of South Africa and acts as an ambassador of our program
- Keeps a clean work environment and maintains a schedule for maintenance and deep cleaning
- Works with our PR and marketing team to create content for our social media channels
- Works with urgency and integrity
- Collaboratess with the owner to set and balance the budget and to find revenue opportunities in the market
- Responsible for the operational functions of concept: point of sales systems, inventory, scheduling, menu design, event coordination and reservation systems
- Responsible for building relationships with clients and responding to inquiries and complaints
Qualifications:
- A learning mindset
- The ability to work within a team and to progress the team’s goals
- TABC and TX Food Handler’s Certifications
- Fluent in English
- Strong communication skills, particularly in listening and empathy
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a beverage leadership and management position.
At Cape Bottle Room, we expect the General Manager to work between 40 – 50 hours per week. In the first six months, the job will focus on building systems and growing the business in San Antonio. The job will eventually grow to encompass and oversee both the San Antonio and the Austin locations.
