Portale Restaurant is an upscale-casual Italian restaurant in the neighborhood of Chelsea led by Chef Alfred Portale, the James Beard award-winning chef and best-selling cookbook author. We are searching for talented, hardworking, team and hospitality-oriented individuals who can help us create a warm and welcoming environment that serves thoughtful and delicious food and beverage offerings. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced restaurant professional with open availability to join our team. We want serious people who know how to have fun.

  Responsibilities  · Complete opening side work checklist for shift daily

· Prepare dining room for service by clothing tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, plates, and utensils

· Greet guests promptly and take initial beverage order

· Help guests to make selections from food and beverage menus, suggest courses and pairings, explain any off-menu dishes, answering all food preparation questions

· Take orders from guests and input into POS, ensuring 100% accuracy

· Handle guests’ special dietary needs, allergies, or special requests with the utmost sensitivity, following Company procedure as outlined in the Employee Handbook

· Communicate with the kitchen to manage the timing of courses, any guest feedback, etc.

· Deal with guest complaints by finding a way to say yes; Involve the Manager on Duty as needed

· Process guest payments in a timely, accurate manner

· Process financials on a shift-by-shift basis, including submitting accurate cash sales

· Accurately report cash tips and contribute to tip pool; Record tip information on a sheet, as directed by Management

· Maintain expert knowledge of all menu offerings

· Update knowledge and skills by participating in staff training opportunities

· Complete closing side work checklist for shift daily

· Maintain sanitation to Department of Health standards; Keep work area clean and organized

· Inform Manager on Duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations

· Knowledgeable in all restaurant operations Skills 

Preferred 3-5 years prior FOH experience in a high volume establishment

  • Able to stand for 10-12 hour shifts
