BOORISTA & ASSISTANT BOORISTA
HallowBean Coffee Co. | Port Charlotte, Florida
Part-Time & Full-Time Opportunities
HallowBean Coffee Co. is looking for energetic, dependable, and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Booristas and Assistant Booristas.
We are a locally owned specialty coffee shop focused on handcrafted beverages, quality food and baked goods, memorable customer service, and creating an atmosphere that guests genuinely enjoy visiting. Because we are an independent shop, our team members aren't limited to just one station—we work together, help wherever needed, and take pride in the entire guest experience.
We're looking for people who can bring the speed and consistency of a high-volume coffee chain together with the attention to detail, personality, and craftsmanship of a neighborhood specialty café.
THE ROLE
Our Booristas and Assistant Booristas work together to provide fast, friendly, and accurate service while maintaining our standards for beverage quality, food preparation, cleanliness, and hospitality.
A typical shift may include taking an order, preparing an espresso beverage, assisting with food or bakery preparation, restocking the bar, cleaning the café, and helping several guests at once.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on position. Successful team members are able to recognize what needs to be done, prioritize multiple tasks, communicate with their coworkers, and keep moving during busy periods without sacrificing quality or customer service.
BOORISTA RESPONSIBILITIES
Booristas are expected to become proficient throughout the café and may be responsible for:
- Preparing espresso beverages, coffees, teas, specialty drinks, frappes, and other menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Properly steaming and texturing milk and assembling hot, iced, and blended beverages.
- Maintaining consistency in beverage taste, appearance, portioning, and preparation.
- Taking customer orders accurately and efficiently while providing knowledgeable menu recommendations.
- Operating the point-of-sale system and accurately processing cash and electronic payments.
- Managing several customer orders and production tasks simultaneously during high-volume periods.
- Maintaining speed of service without compromising product quality or accuracy.
- Developing familiarity with our coffee, ingredients, flavor profiles, specialty beverages, and seasonal offerings.
- Preparing and serving food, pastries, and bakery items according to established procedures.
- Assisting with basic food and bakery preparation when needed.
- Restocking cups, lids, syrups, milks, ingredients, food items, and other supplies throughout the shift.
- Maintaining clean and organized espresso, beverage, food preparation, dining, and customer service areas.
- Completing opening, closing, cleaning, stocking, and side-work responsibilities.
- Following food safety, sanitation, allergen-awareness, handwashing, and cross-contamination procedures.
- Monitoring product quality and immediately communicating shortages, equipment problems, or quality concerns to management.
- Working cooperatively with other team members and stepping into different positions as business needs change.
- Creating a welcoming experience by greeting guests, maintaining a positive attitude, and providing friendly and attentive service.
ASSISTANT BOORISTA RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Boorista position is designed for team members who may still be developing their coffee and espresso skills while learning our complete operation.
Assistant Booristas will receive training and may initially focus on:
- Greeting customers and assisting with order taking.
- Learning the menu, recipes, ingredients, and proper drink assembly.
- Preparing simpler beverages while progressing toward full espresso-bar proficiency.
- Supporting Booristas during periods of high customer volume.
- Preparing cups, ingredients, syrups, milks, garnishes, and other items needed for beverage production.
- Restocking the beverage bar and food service areas.
- Assisting with pastries, bakery items, food preparation, and packaging.
- Maintaining dishes, equipment, counters, tables, floors, and work areas.
- Completing routine cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout the shift.
- Learning opening and closing procedures.
- Helping maintain an organized, fully stocked, and guest-ready café.
- Progressively developing the speed, beverage knowledge, accuracy, and customer-service skills necessary to advance into a full Boorista position.
Previous coffee experience is not necessarily required for the Assistant Boorista position. We are willing to train the right person who demonstrates a strong work ethic, reliability, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Successful candidates should be:
- Comfortable working in a genuinely fast-paced environment.
- Able to multitask and manage several priorities at the same time.
- Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with customers.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy.
- Able to follow recipes, procedures, and established quality standards consistently.
- Able to maintain composure and a positive attitude during rush periods.
- Self-motivated and willing to find productive work during slower periods without needing constant direction.
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
- Willing to clean, stock, organize, prep, and perform other tasks necessary to keep the café operating smoothly.
- Receptive to coaching and willing to continually improve.
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, coworkers, and management.
- Committed to maintaining a clean, organized, and professional workplace.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Previous barista or specialty coffee experience.

- Open or flexible availability.
- Availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as business needs require.
- A history of reliable attendance and long-term employment.
Coffee knowledge is valuable, but attitude, reliability, work ethic, speed, and willingness to learn are equally important to us.

At the same time, we want HallowBean to remain a fun, welcoming place where employees can develop their skills, get to know our regular customers, contribute ideas, and take pride in the shop they help operate.
OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH
We prefer to develop talented team members from within.
An Assistant Boorista who demonstrates proficiency in beverage preparation, customer service, speed, cleanliness, reliability, and overall café operations may advance into a Boorista position as skills develop.
Strong Booristas may also have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities as trainers, shift leaders, or other leadership positions as our business grows.

Applicants with previous barista, coffee, baking, pastry, restaurant, or food-service experience are encouraged to include those details.
Because scheduling flexibility is especially valuable in this position, please include your complete weekly availability, including your availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
We're looking for people who want to become an important part of a locally owned coffee shop—not simply someone looking for a place to clock in.
If you're dependable, energetic, personable, willing to learn, and ready to work as part of a fast-moving team, we'd love to hear from you.
