Job Overview

 Responsibilities 

  • Accurately and quickly prepare food product for the day in accordance with projected ratios
  • Ability to cook from-scratch meals to resturant standards following recipes from memory
  • Maintain master knowledge of food items and recipes to prepare food
  • Visually observe food for quality and discard as needed; track and inform management of any discarded food items
  • Maintain updated knowledge of all menu items, menu changes, specials. etc.
  • Keep walk-in cooler clean and organized; food items properly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated
  • Keep the line, coolers, and dry storage stocked and organized
  • Keep assigned area clean; maintain upkeep on reach-in coolers by keeping them clutter free and disinfected with restaurant issued cleaning supplies
  • Be flexible and able to assist, including preparation and closing in all areas in the back of house when needed
  • Commuincate well with other cooks; transition between shifts by informing new shift members of current day's progress, menu items, and completed tasks

Skills 

  • Cooking experience; 1-2 years in medium to high volume restaurant preferred, but not required
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Dedication and desire to cook

Physical Demands Cooks will regularly stand for long periods of time in a hot kitchen environment. Must be able to bend, stoop, turn, lift, walk, walk on uneven ground, carry and lift up to fifty pounds.
