Job Overview

We are a busy restaurant and have an open role for Hostess & Take Out leaders. A hostess works in the foodservice industry and greets guests as they enter the restaurant. They are the first face that guests usually encounter upon arrival. They have excellent customer service skills and seek to enhance the guest’s experience during their time in the restaurant however they are able. A hostess will work closely with the wait staff to maintain an organized account of customers coming in and out of the restaurant and keep track of which tables are available or need to be cleared.This position will be responsible for greeting guests as they enter and show them to their table or waiting area. Not only should a Hostess engage with guests to ensure their meal is as good as it should be, but also will handle phone calls and customer queries about the restaurant and menu, and assist various restaurant staff with a variety of tasks when necessary. To do well in this role you should be comfortable standing for long periods and managing a very busy shift.

Responsibilities 

  • Greeting guests as they enter; utilizing a waiting list as necessary
  • Providing guests with menus and answering any initials questions; making initial suggestions or point our guests to a specific signature item on the menu
  • Seating guests at tables or waiting areas
  • Making sure our guests are seated with menus
  • Entering & preparing take out orders
  • Sanitation of various surfaces
  • Assigning guests to tables they may prefer; managing and understanding a rotation so servers receive the appropriate number of tables and do not get overwhelmed.
  • Answering phone calls, taking reservations, asking questions.
  • Knowledge of the menu
  • Keeping servers informed of recently sat tables, and keeping a harmonious flow for the FOH
  • Keeping the host stand and waiting area tidy and clean
  • Providing great customer service
