Back of House Cook Responsibilities
Food Preparation
Prepare all menu items according to recipes and portion standards
Marinate, season, and cook proteins properly
Prep vegetables, sauces, rice, beans, and side items daily
Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met
Maintain proper food temperatures during cooking and holding
Line & Service Operations
Set up and stock stations before service
Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout shift
Communicate effectively with front of house and kitchen team
Work efficiently during busy rush periods
Refill ingredients and supplies as needed during service
Follow ticket order timing and accuracy standards
Food Safety & Sanitation
Follow all food safety and health department regulations
Practice proper handwashing and glove procedures
Label and date all food items correctly
Store food properly to prevent cross contamination
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, floors, prep areas, and storage areas
Complete daily cleaning and closing duties
Inventory & Organization
Notify management of low inventory items
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries
Rotate products using FIFO (First In, First Out)
Minimize food waste and over-portioning
Help maintain organized walk-in, freezer, and dry storage areas
Equipment Responsibilities
Operate kitchen equipment safely
Clean grills, fryers, ovens, rotisserie equipment, and prep tools properly
Report equipment issues or maintenance needs immediately
Teamwork & Professionalism
Arrive on time and prepared for shift
Maintain positive attitude and sense of urgency
Assist teammates when needed
Follow all restaurant policies and procedures
Support overall kitchen efficiency and team success
