Job Description: As a Prep Cook/Line Cook at our seasonal riverfront restaurant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our culinary operations. You will be responsible for preparing high-quality ingredients, executing cooking techniques with precision, and contributing to the creation of exceptional dishes that showcase the flavors of the season. Whether you're assisting with food preparation in the kitchen or working the line during service, you will be integral to delivering a memorable dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, slicing, and portioning, according to recipes and established standards.
  • Execute cooking techniques such as grilling, sautéing, and frying with accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring consistent quality and timely service.
  • Work collaboratively with the culinary team to organize and prioritize tasks, maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, and uphold food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Plate and garnish dishes with precision and creativity, following plating guidelines to enhance presentation and appeal.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth coordination during service, anticipating needs and proactively assisting with tasks as required.
  • Adhere to recipe specifications and portion control guidelines to minimize waste and maximize efficiency in the kitchen.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, rotating stock, and maintaining inventory levels to support kitchen operations.

Qualifications:

  • Accredited Food Handler's Certificate is required to work
  • Previous experience as a Prep Cook, Line Cook, or in a similar culinary role preferred, with knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety practices.
  • Culinary degree or certification from a reputable culinary school is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, maintaining composure under pressure and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality and consistency in food preparation and presentation.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in a high-energy kitchen environment.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by seasonal business needs.
