COFFEE SHOP SALAD/SANDWICH COOK
Full-Time & Part-Time Positions Available
Schedule: 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM (varying shifts)
POSITION OVERVIEW
We're seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Salad/Sandwich Cook to join our coffee shop team. This position is responsible for preparing fresh salads, sandwiches, and other cold items while maintaining high food quality and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Preparation:
• Execute daily prep lists for vegetables, proteins, and sandwich components
• Prepare sandwiches and salads to order following standardized recipes
• Maintain proper portioning and presentation standards
• Monitor food quality and freshness
• Assist with inventory and stock rotation
• Follow all food safety guidelines and maintain clean workspace
Kitchen Operations:
• Set up and maintain sandwich/salad station
• Monitor ingredient levels throughout shift
• Communicate needs to management
• Maintain cleanliness of work area
• Assist with receiving deliveries
• Complete opening/closing checklists
• Support other kitchen staff as needed
Quality Control:
• Ensure proper food storage and labeling
• Monitor temperature logs for cold items
• Check quality of produce and ingredients
• Follow recipe specifications
• Maintain presentation standards
• Report quality issues to management
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 1 year experience in food preparation
• Valid Food Handler's Certificate (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to read and follow standardized recipes
• Strong knife skills and food prep techniques
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 pounds
• Available to work mornings, weekends, and holidays
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous coffee shop or deli experience
• ServSafe certification
• Experience with high-volume food preparation
• Knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergens
• Basic computer skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Standing/walking entire shift
• Frequent lifting (up to 50 pounds)
• Repeated bending and reaching
• Working in refrigerated environments
• Manual dexterity for food prep
• Fast-paced environment adaptation
