Job Title: Cook Department: Kitchen / Back of House
Reports To: General Manager / Shift Supervisor / Kitchen Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:     The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality meals according to restaurant standards and recipes. They must maintain a clean and organized work environment, follow food safety protocols, and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen. A successful Cook is detail-oriented, team-focused, and passionate about delivering great food.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards
 - Ensure all food is cooked and plated correctly, meeting presentation guidelines
 - Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
 - Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including food prep and storage areas
 - Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper food handling and storage
 - Assist with receiving and storing kitchen supplies and ingredients
 - Communicate with kitchen staff and servers to ensure timely food preparation
 - Follow portion control guidelines to minimize waste and control food costs
 - Assist with opening and closing duties, including prep work and cleaning
 - Adhere to all restaurant policies and procedures
 
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a cook in a restaurant or food service setting preferred
 - Knowledge of kitchen equipment, food preparation techniques, and cooking methods
 - Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume environment
 - Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
 - Understanding of food safety regulations (ServSafe certification is a plus)
 - Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
 - Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
 
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, smoke, and noise
 - Standing for long periods and handling sharp knives and hot surfaces
 - Working with various kitchen equipment and heavy lifting as needed
