POSITION SUMMARY
The PT Barista prepares high-quality beverages and provides exceptional hospitality to every guest. The position focuses on Café operations while supporting Front of House operations when business needs require it.
Every PT Barista must cross-train as a PT Team Member. Employees are expected to maintain the skills needed to work in both Café and Front of House.

SCHEDULE
Minimum availability: 15 hours per week
Availability must include at least 3 days from Monday through Saturday.
Typical shifts are 5 to 6 hours.
Shifts may extend up to 8 hours when requested and required.
Schedules are based on employee availability and business needs.
Scheduling accommodations are considered when possible.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare customized and pre-designed beverages, including:
Hot coffees
Cold coffees
Refreshers
Blended drinks
Teas
Other Café beverages
Provide friendly and welcoming hospitality to every guest.
Create positive guest experiences and work to make people smile.
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked coffee station.
Follow beverage recipes and Café preparation standards.
Maintain proper cleanliness and organization throughout the Café.
Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
Support the bakery team during busy periods.

CROSS-TRAINING REQUIREMENT
Every PT Barista must complete training as a PT Team Member.
PT Baristas must be prepared to work in Front of House when business needs require it.
Cross-trained responsibilities include:
Operating the register
Taking customer orders
Providing Front of House hospitality
Supporting guest service
Assisting other Front of House stations
When the bakery is fully staffed, PT Baristas primarily remain in the Café. Register and customer-order responsibilities are assigned when additional support is required or during an emergency.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Every PT Barista must complete the bakery's Barista Certification Program.
Barista Certification is completed during scheduled shifts and is paid at the employee's normal hourly rate.
Employees completing Barista Certification are scheduled under the "In-Training" designation.
Every PT Barista must complete ServSafe Food Handler training after employment.
ServSafe training is provided by the employer and is available online or through an in-person session with the three managers.

EXPERIENCE
Previous barista, café, restaurant, or customer service experience is preferred.
Previous experience is not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Stand for up to 8 hours during a shift.
Work around hot liquids and hot equipment.
Safely handle sharp equipment, including knives.
Lift up to 35 pounds independently.
Lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods.

Employees who work at least 850 hours between February and November and at least 300 hours between November and January earn the ability to build their own schedule for the following year.
Employees maintain the schedule-building incentive throughout the following year as long as the required hours remain consistent.
Employee-built schedules remain subject to management approval and business coverage requirements.
