Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly discreet Payroll Manager to oversee the payroll operations of our restaurant. This role requires a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and the confidential handling of sensitive employee information. The ideal candidate will have experience in hospitality payroll, thorough knowledge of payroll laws, and a proven track record of managing payroll processes with the utmost integrity and discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing:
- Manage and process bi-weekly or weekly payroll for all employees, including hourly, salaried, and tipped staff.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, tips, overtime, bonuses, and deductions while maintaining strict confidentiality of payroll data.
- Maintain precise time and attendance records using the restaurant’s timekeeping system.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including FLSA, wage and hour laws, and tip reporting requirements.
- Stay up to date on payroll legislation and restaurant industry-specific labor laws.
- Ensure secure storage and handling of sensitive employee information and payroll records.
- Reporting & Reconciliation:
- Prepare payroll reports and reconcile with accounting records.
- Issue year-end tax documents (W-2s, 1099s) and respond to government reporting requirements.
- Protect all employee data and payroll information with the highest level of confidentiality.
- Employee Support:
- Respond promptly and professionally to employee payroll inquiries while safeguarding personal and financial information.
- Coordinate with HR for onboarding, terminations, benefits deductions, and employee file updates, maintaining strict privacy protocols.
- System & Process Management:
- Maintain and optimize payroll software systems.
- Implement process improvements that support compliance, accuracy, and confidential information protection.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- Deep knowledge of payroll principles, tax laws, and wage regulations.
- Proficiency with payroll and timekeeping systems (e.g., ADP, Toast Payroll, 7Shifts, QuickBooks Payroll).
- Strong understanding of confidentiality requirements and ethical standards.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with tipped employee payroll and tip pooling regulations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
