Job Description
Concordia Village is a housing project specially designed for older adults seeking independent living with some support services. It is located at 1125, 1115 and 1105 Molson Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is owned and operated by Concordia Wellness Projects Inc. which is a non-profit registered charitable organization affiliated with Concordia Hospital. The mission of Concordia Village is to enhance the quality of life for older adults by providing a secure, comfortable, homelike environment. Residents are encouraged to live as independently as possible with support services provided by the building and through Home Care.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director of Food and Nutrition Services , Assistant Directorof Food and Nutrition Services
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Proven ability to work effectively and in an organized and efficient manner.
· Able and willing to adhere to food safety and sanitation policies.
QUALITIES:
· Ability to work in a team setting and to take direction from the Dining Room Supervisors.
· Show initiative, flexibility and excellent interpersonal skills.
· Possesses professional problem-solving skills, a positive attitude and is consistently compassionate and helpful to the residents.
POSITION:
This is a full time position. Food Servers are responsible for delivering beverages and meals to residents as well as general cleaning of both the dining room and the kitchen. Included in the rent is brunch/lunch and dinner meals. Hours of work are subject to change but will likely be 10:30am-6:30pm and 11:30am-7:30pm. Positions will begin over the months of May, June and July as we transition and residents move in gradually.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for serving beverages to the residents, ensuring food is served in an efficient, personalized and compassionate manner.
  2. Communicates resident meal needs to the Chefs/Cooks.
  3. Responsible for ensuring dining room and kitchen sanitation and organization.
  4. Responsible for properly executing Food Safety Standards and maintaining sanitation standards.
  5. Maintains a positive attitude at all times and values teamwork.
  6. Report to the Dining Room Supervisor any unusual or difficult situations in respect to the Food Services area.
  7. Give feedback/suggestions in the area of:
    a. improving of systems/procedures
    b. improving of recipes/menu choices
  8. Attend staff meetings as called by the Director or delegate.
  9. Must be able to lift 50lbs and be able to perform repetitive tasks, such as mopping, vacuuming, etc.
  10. Co-operate with other staff in the delivery of services to residents.
  11. Represent the organization both formally and informally in a professional manner.
  12. Carry out such other relevant tasks as may occur from time to time as directed by the Food Services Director, Assistant or Dining Room Supervisor.
  13. Upholds all policies set in place by Concordia Village such as the Pledge of Confidentiality and uniform policy.
  14. Delivers outstanding service by keeping our resident’s needs the #1 priority.
  15. Abides by regulations (ex. No cellular phone use allowed while on shift, uses proper food handling techniques, etc)
  16. Reports to the Dining Room Supervisor or designate prior to leaving at the end of each shift.
  17. Maintains all recorded logs, (ex. Task sheets, cleaning lists, etc)
  18. Maintains a compassionate demeanor and positive attitude in the dining room.
