Position Overview

The Host at Cork & Craft plays a central role in shaping each guest’s first and last impression. This position combines warm hospitality with strong organizational and communication skills. The Host manages the flow of guests both in person and online, oversees the reservation system, and ensures a seamless, elevated dining and entertainment experience aligned with Cork & Craft’s brand of sophistication, comfort, and community.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Reception & Seating

  • Greet every guest promptly and warmly upon arrival.
  • Maintain a welcoming and professional presence at the host stand and throughout the restaurant.
  • Manage the waitlist and seating chart to balance server sections and optimize guest flow.
  • Escort guests to tables, ensuring menus and place settings are properly presented.
  • Communicate seating updates to servers and managers in real time.

Reservation & Guest Management

  • Manage Yelp Guest Manager / Online Reservation System, ensuring reservation accuracy and timely updates.
  • Confirm and adjust online bookings, special requests, and large-party accommodations.
  • Monitor guest notes for preferences, allergies, and special occasions.
  • Proactively communicate with guests regarding reservation confirmations, delays, or special event promotions.
  • Ensure the reservation system reflects current restaurant hours, event nights, and live music programming.

Service Coordination

  • Work closely with servers, bartenders, and managers to maintain efficient table turnover and guest satisfaction.
  • Anticipate and communicate guest needs to the team, ensuring exceptional service continuity.
  • Assist with to-go orders, retail sales, and event inquiries as needed.
  • Coordinate with management on VIP seating, private events, and live music nights.

Ambiance & Presentation

  • Ensure the host area, entryway, and menus are clean, organized, and visually appealing.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of special event signage and promotional materials.
  • Maintain awareness of current promotions, live music schedule, and featured menu items to engage guests confidently.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a host, reservationist, or front-of-house coordinator preferred.
  • Familiarity with Yelp Guest Manager, OpenTable, or similar reservation platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; poised under pressure.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail.
  • Professional demeanor with a warm, engaging personality.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and accuracy.
  • Comfortable using iPads, POS systems, and digital scheduling tools.
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and special events.
