Position Overview

The Expo (Food Expeditor) at Cork & Craft serves as the bridge between the kitchen and the front-of-house team, ensuring that every plate leaving the kitchen meets the restaurant’s exacting standards for quality, accuracy, and presentation.
This role requires sharp communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure while maintaining grace and focus. The Expo keeps service running smoothly, guaranteeing that each guest’s dining experience is timely, organized, and aligned with Cork & Craft’s reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Order Coordination & Quality Control

  • Manage and organize all incoming food orders from the POS system to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with both cooks and servers to coordinate the flow of dishes.
  • Double-check every plate for accuracy, portioning, temperature, and presentation before it leaves the kitchen.
  • Ensure that modifications, allergies, and special requests are clearly identified and executed correctly.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Chef and FOH team during peak service times.

Timing & Organization

  • Prioritize orders based on ticket time and guest pacing.
  • Ensure that multi-course or multi-guest orders are timed and delivered together.
  • Maintain a clean, organized expo line throughout service.
  • Coordinate with hosts and servers during busy hours to manage table timing and ticket flow.

Presentation & Consistency

  • Verify that each plate aligns with Cork & Craft’s presentation and plating standards.
  • Garnish and finalize dishes according to menu and Chef direction.
  • Keep plating and pass-through areas organized, clean, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Support the Chef in maintaining visual and taste quality control.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with cooks, servers, and management to ensure guest satisfaction through efficient, precise service.
  • Communicate proactively with FOH regarding delays, sold-out items, or substitutions.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and solution-oriented environment between kitchen and front-of-house staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a food runner, expo, or line cook preferred.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations and restaurant flow.
  • Excellent multitasking and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work efficiently and remain composed during high-volume service.
  • Familiarity with restaurant POS systems (Toast, Aloha, etc.).
  • Must have or obtain a valid food handler’s certification.
