Starkville Cafe is looking for a dependable, high-energy Line Cook to join our team. We are a local staple known for fresh ingredients and a welcoming atmosphere. As part of an established 3-restaurant group, we offer a stable work environment and competitive pay based on your experience.

Responsibilities

  • Station Management: Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies and prepare food for service (e.g., chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces).
  • Order Execution: Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff to ensure all plates go out accurately and simultaneously.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that food comes out at high quality, in a timely fashion, and follows our specific Starkville Cafe recipes and presentation standards.
  • Cleanliness & Safety: Maintain a clean and organized workstation; follow all food safety, sanitation, and storage regulations.
  • Inventory Care: Help track supplies and notify management when stock is low to ensure no interruptions in service.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with the Front of House and fellow kitchen staff to provide a seamless experience for our customers.

Skills & Requirements

  • Proven Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience as a Line Cook, preferably in a high-volume breakfast or lunch environment.
  • Technical Ability: Proficiency in using various kitchen equipment (grills, fryers, slicers) and excellent knife skills.
  • Speed & Accuracy: Ability to remain calm and work quickly under pressure during peak "rush" hours.
  • Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to coordinate orders in a loud, fast-paced kitchen.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Reliability: Punctuality is a must; we need team members who show up ready to work their scheduled shifts.
