The Great Dane is an upscale neighborhood pub in the heart of Royal Oak, offering great food, quality drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. We're looking for an energetic, experienced, and personable bartender who takes pride in delivering outstanding hospitality.

We're not just looking for someone who can make a great cocktail. We're looking for someone who knows how to create an experience that keeps guests coming back.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, attentive, and professional service to every guest.

  • Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages consistently and accurately.

  • Build relationships with regular guests while creating a welcoming environment for new customers.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar.

  • Follow proper cash-handling procedures and accurately process transactions using the POS system.

  • Monitor alcohol consumption and follow all responsible alcohol service regulations.

  • Maintain accurate inventory, minimize waste, and follow proper portion-control standards.

  • Promote daily specials, happy hour offerings, and upcoming events.

  • Work closely with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations.

  • Complete opening, closing, cleaning, and restocking duties.

  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace.

Qualifications

  • Previous bartending experience in a full-service restaurant or high-volume bar preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits.

  • Excellent communication and guest-service skills.

  • Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy shifts.

  • Professional appearance, positive attitude, and dependable work ethic.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Michigan alcohol server training/certification preferred or willingness to obtain required training.
