Position Overview
As a Barback, your job is to support bartenders by keeping the bar clean, stocked, and organized during service. You help ensure quick service, smooth bar operations, and excellent guest experiences by anticipating needs and acting quickly and efficiently.
Core Responsibilities
1. Stocking & Restocking Supplies
- Refill liquor bottles, wine, and mixers in speed wells and storage.
- Stock glassware, bar tools, garnishes, straws, napkins, and other service items.
- Keep back-up product organized and accessible for quick restocking during service.
2. Bar Station Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean and organized bar throughout the shift.
- Wipe down surfaces, clean up spills immediately, and remove trash and debris.
- Clear and wash used glassware promptly; return clean glassware to the correct locations.
3. Bartender Support
- Respond to bartender requests quickly and efficiently.
- Replenish ice bins, refill garnish trays, restock syrups, juices, and mixers.
- Assist with bar prep at the start of shift (cutting fruit, setting up bar tools, organizing products).
- Help during service by staying ahead of low-stock items without being prompted.
- Pre Bus bar top and bar tables
- Run bar food as needed
4. Guest Area Maintenance
- Clear and clean guest-facing bar tops regularly.
- Reset bar seating quickly to maintain a welcoming appearance.
- Alert a server or host if guests have questions or are waiting for service.
5. Cleaning & Sanitation Duties
- Operate glass washers and dish pits with attention to cleanliness and safety.
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces routinely.
- Handle trash, recycling, and dirty dish bins throughout the shift, keeping the work area tidy.
- Follow proper handwashing and hygiene protocols throughout the shift.
6. Bar Setup & Breakdown
- Assist with opening setup: stock all stations, prep garnishes, polish glassware.
- Participate in end-of-shift breakdown: empty trash, clean stations, sanitize tools, restock supplies for next day.
- Complete all side work assignments on the daily checklist.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Use proper lifting and handling techniques for heavy trays, crates, and glassware.
- Follow all health department guidelines and internal safety protocols.
- Report any safety hazards, broken glassware, or equipment issues immediately to a supervisor.
